Section A: This 11 session, three hour class meets Thursday evenings 6:30-9:30pm from January 5, 2017 through March 16, 2017.

In this class I will present exercises for intermediate students and, also, for beginning painters. Students should choose either drawing or paining for the entire term unless they are experienced in both. Drawing exercises will focus on maintaining the making attitudes of Intro while working from the figure. Beginning painting exercises will help students become comfortable experimenting with paint, using paint expressively, and reworking paintings. Advanced drawers and painters may also take this class and elect to follow the exercises or work independently as they choose.

If you are new to Phil's teaching, even if you are very experienced, take Intro Drawing before taking Intermediate Drawing or Painting. Many experienced artists have taken Phil's Intro and all have said it was unlike any of their previous training and not the least bit remedial. Intro is an essential foundation for Phil's Intermediate coursework.

Materials: For the first session, painters should bring some acrylic colors you like, acrylic titanium white, acrylic gloss gel medium, some cheap brushes about thumb size, and any shape palette knife. We will begin painting on the studio paper, so no canvasses are necessary. Drawers only need to bring graphite, charcoal, and erasers. Paper will always be provided.
