This is a 10 week, online Zoom class, meeting 6:30-8:30pm Thursday evenings, April 15 - June 17, 2021. The class is only open to students who have already taken at least one class at The Drawing Studio.

The Working Group will meet two hours per week via Zoom. The structure will be as follows, we’ll each set up so that our computer or phone camera is trained on our own work while we are working. During the class time, students can spend as much time as they want either working, or watching other people work, or going back and forth between the two. I will give 20 minute warm up exercises at the beginning of class, then talk about process and answer questions as students pursue their own work for the remaining time. Toward the end of class, we will briefly look at and talk about the work that has been done.

We won’t be working on shared subject matter or shared exercises. Instead, we’ll each choose our own subject matter, media, etc.. Students can draw or paint. We’ll just be sharing what we’re doing via camera with the other members of the group. There won’t be any presentations, critiques, or anything like that. We’ll just be working together as a group, as we do in class at the studio. Two hours isn’t very long but class will create the structure to guarantee that we are working each week. After class is over, participants can just keep going as long as their motivation holds out.

The purpose of the class is to function essentially as a support group to help people at the intermediate level develop an ongoing work practice.
