This three hour class runs on Thursday evenings 6:30-9:30pm from July 10, 2013 through August 21, 2013
An introduction to acrylic paints. Just as in drawing, what slows down beginning painters is preconceptions about how paintings come about. Class exercises will suspend those preconceptions, encouraging new painters to experiment with acrylics very broadly. In the end, new painters will begin to experience the true potential of paint, rather than forcing the paint to illustrate preconceived ideas.
Experienced painters taking this class, can elect to do the class exercises, reinterpret the exercises, or work on their own projects, asking for one on one help.
If you are uneasy with drawing, take Intro Drawing before beginning painting.
Materials: For the first session, bring some acrylic colors you like, acrylic titanium white, acrylic gloss gel medium, some cheap brushes about thumb size, and any shape palette knife. We will begin painting on the studio paper, so no canvasses are necessary.
Painting students are welcome at the Intermediate Drawing demos. Kevin Sauser's demo will be 11am-1pm Saturday August 2nd. William Park's demo will be 7-9pm Wednesday August 13th. Others can drop in for $35 per demo.
