Intermediate, the Drawings of Kevin Sauser and William Park--SECTION A

This summer's intermediate class will focus on studies from the work of artists Kevin Sauser and William Park. Both artists' work have been consistently inspiring to many of my students over the years, so I thought it would be both fun and revealing to have a whole class devoted to that work so students could compare notes and discoveries, discussing the approaches that give these works their strength and actually getting to watch the artists at work. We'll begin doing studies, progress to applying what we learn from the studies to our own figure work, and at some point in the term have a demo by each artist so we can watch their pieces emerge from the very first marks.

This class can also include experienced painters because we will look at Bill Parks spontaneous paint sketches and Kevin Sauser's drawings can be a great basis for paintings.

Kevin Sauser's demo will be 11am-1pm Saturday August 2nd. William Park's demo will be 7-9pm Wednesday August 13th. Intermediate Drawing and Painting students are welcome at the demos. Others can drop in for $35 per demo.
